We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.
1 John 3:16 NLT
I am leading a bible study on friendship. One of the friendship challenges this week is to confess when I’ve been jealous of other daughters of God. She mentions that sometimes it’s not appropriate for this to be admitted to the woman/women we are jealous of for it can be a burden in on them and to find a neutral 3rd party.
So here goes.
I am jealous of women with clean backgrounds. With un-blended families and with Rom-com style love stories that people love to hear.
I am jealous of the women who got it right. Who listened to God from the time we were in our teens to now and don’t have horrible mistakes and sins of biblical proportions lurking in the background. The ones who, all the tough stuff they have gone thru in their life is stuff that happened to them and not results of stupid mistakes they or their spouse made.
To me these women also seem to have the large families, full of multiple children, and they get to stay at home, and maybe even homeschool. They often have less money the I do but seem more content. They seem to have a better and closer relationship with God and get to walk fully and freely in his grace. While I am sitting over here STILL trying to feel like I deserve it.
I am jealous of the women who get told ” you and your hubby are so cute together!” And they can smile and giggle, or even faux deny it , but deep down feel it , instead of thinking in their head “oh my gosh, if you only knew!”
Thank you for listening internet world. I confessed this to God earlier today and I’ve now typed it out loud (is that even a thing?!?!?! 😂😁😂😁) perhaps now I can get to the heart of some of these issues and heal.
If you are a women interested in learning more about gospel centered friendships, i highly recommend
Lisa-Jo Bakers-We Saved You A seat study.
And if you are a man or women struggling with jealous I encourage you to read the story of David , Saul , and Jonathan in 1st Samuel . From there really think hard of who you compare yourself to and why. Confess your jealousy to God and then to a neutral 3rd party. Its the only way to start to heal.
‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’
Numbers 6:24-26 NLT
Everyone all over the world is loved by God. Doesnt only apply to Americans. It’s for poor and rich. Educated and Non. Black, Asian, white, Hispanic, etc, etc. No matter who you are or where you live May you find Gods Favor today.
So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.
Galatians 5:1 NLT
This verse is NOT an invitation to do whatever we want. No it is a call to find Grace and freedom in Jesus. To find joy in Jesus. Because we are fallen and sinful creatures, but Jesus has saved us from our fate!
