My husband and I have been finishing up this past season of Madam Secretary. We got behind and had like 13 episodes to watch. I love that show.
Now I now it’s a show & its not an accurate portrayal of how things work in Washington but I feel like it tries to give you a pretty accurate picture. All I know is it takes a lot to keep this world running in an even somewhat smooth order and I could not do it. And it’s got me thinking alot about our country and world.
Today is the 4th of July. And as seems to have become the norm in the last couple of years our country is very divided and there is a lot of craziness going on. Our president is once again focusing on things that probably shouldn’t be a focus and ignoring the things that probably should be a focus. And everyone just seems to be mad at each other an angry at our country.
And look I get it. There is lots of bad stuff going on. However I do have to say that on this day where we celebrate our country, I am glad to be an American.
There are countries in this world where people have no rights. Where there is no freedom of speech that allows you to go on the internet and talk smack about the leader of your country. Where you don’t have the rights to get any job you want or be lazy and not have any job at all because your government controls everything you do. Where the richest people in that country don’t even make what our middle does here in America. Where racism is even more rampant and widespread then what we have going on today.
So yes. We’ve got a lot of crap going on in America and it’s not always so great. And it’s hard to feel love for a country when our main figure Head spreads such a message of hate. We the people have to rise above that. We have to remember we have always been a good country to live in. We have to remember that we have good people in this country. And we need to celebrate the fact that because of our status and our wealth we have the ability to do good for other people.
The verse below is perfect for today. We have a freedom that comes from not being born in the USA but from being Sons and Daughters of Jesus Christ. And that is the freedom that we need to celebrate today that we are not bound to our sin, the we are not bound to the actions of any one person no matter how loud they tweet.
We are free.
And just like the freedom of the United States of America was bought with a price. We as Sons and Daughters of Jesus were bought with the highest price. And we must use that freedom to spread love, joy, kindness, and peace. We need to be our own figureheads and use our freedom to help others.
So today between the fireworks and the food will you spend a little bit of time thinking about your freedom in Jesus? Think about ways you could help other people and who you have the ability to help. It may not be on some grand national scale like helping those poor people stuck at the border. It may just be taking a plate of food to your neighbor who’s a shut-in next door. It may just be practicing a little bit more patience with your child today. You might have the ability to help on some giant scale and if you do that’s amazing!!!! But if you don’t, do not get discouraged. May we use today not as a display Of love for our country but as a display of love for our fellow countrymen and all mankind.
Praise the God who created us and the USA! HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!! 🎆🎇✨
For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.
