I did it!!!!

So today I checked a New Year’s resolution off my list. Perhaps the most important one. This year I read 24 books of the Bible. I have never read that many ever. God really gave me the dedication and the mindset to stick with this goal and I’m so glad that he did. I cannot wait to read the rest. While getting ready to make this post I looked at my new years resolution post from last year

I was actually quite surprised at how many of them I really did keep.

I quit smoking. I got Logan moved over to a toddler bed, I won’t say we perfected brushing teeth but we definitely have a habit in place. We have also started and have made a lot of progress on the potty training. Ryan and I did take a getaway just us no kids.

It was quite nice to see New Year’s resolutions made and kept even if I didn’t realize I kept most of them. I think it’s important for us to set goals for each year. I think it’s important to write them down and take a look back at them. And I think it’s important for them to cover multiple aspects of your life. Your physical life, your relationship life, your financial life, and most importantly your spiritual life.

So now as this year is winding down. I’m going to see if I can finish any additional books before the end of the year. Because I’m an overachiever like that 🙂

And while I’m doing that it looks like I need to come up with resolutions for 2018……………..

Christmas Time!!!!!

Guys! It’s here! It’s Christmas week. Can’t you just feel the change in the excitement. All around you there’s just the hustle and bustle and the wonderfulness of this season.

I’m doing all my Advent readings and really just focusing on how amazing God’s love is for us by sending this little baby boy to save us from our sins. I mean does it really get any better than that?

And then on top of that we get this wonderful holiday called Christmas! I mean this week will be filled with movies, get-togethers, and food. All of these wonderful things that God has given us on top of sending Jesus to die for us. I mean right there at that doesn’t show you how much God loves you I don’t know what does.

So take the time. Enjoy this next week. Read the book of Luke. Find an advent plan on YouVersion. Tell your children the Christmas story. Bake cookies. Watch the Santa Claus and Christmas Vacation. And just remember.

You are so loved by God that He gave you this beautiful baby boy so that one day you can join him in heaven and until that day it has given us all of these wonderful things on earth to enjoy.

Confess Our Sins

The key word in this verse is confess. We have to admit what we have done wrong. We can’t live in a made-up world where just because Jesus loves us so much we don’t ever admit the mistakes that we’ve made. We must confess our sins repent and change our ways and Jesus will forgive us and cleanse us from my wickedness.

It’s amazing to me how many people put Jesus in this all loving all forgiving box while forgetting that he does expect us to do good.

Proverbs 28:13 states that -“if you hide your sins you will not succeed if you confess and reject them you will receive Mercy.” NCV version

I think that’s a great exclamation for removing Sin from your life. Confess and reject. As the knowledgeable Priscilla Shirer once said:

you cannot go where you used to go. You cannot do what you used to do. And you cannot be who you used to be.

But it’s not something to beat ourselves up about because if we take the steps of confession we have the almighty forgiveness of Jesus awaiting us.

Fiery Attacks on Mind

This! I’ve been working so hard have a better and more deep relationship with God and my distractions just keep getting worse and worse. This excerpt from Jesus calling today totally reminds me why. The more we do to grow closer to God the more Satan will try and tear us down. So we have to keep praying and keep fighting forward . It is also a good reminder that’s how I really need to watch my words.

Transgressions Wiped Clean

I discovered this verse while practicing “Lectio Divina” otherwise known as “Divine reading” as part of my Present over Perfect Bible study.

I am really struggling with regrets from my past sins and the author of that study Shauna Niequist gave this verse as one to chew on.

I’ve read Isaiah before but this one had not caught my eye. I read and wrote the verse in several different versions and I really like the Amplified Bibles version. It’s so interesting thinking that being forgiven of our sins has nothing to do with us and is not for us but it’s something God God does for himself. It’s amazing to realize that I matter SO much to God that he wants me in his home with him so much that he just goes ahead and forgives my transgressions. Like he loves me THAT much.

I don’t quite understand the last part about reminding him of them and pleading my case with him but I’m definitely excited to pray and meditate on it more to figure it out.

Wonderful reminder today of how much God loves us.

What we don’t want to do

Way back in Isaiah God tells us we will be saved and strong if we trust in him. And in Isaiah he flat-out tells us we don’t want to do that. It’s just so interesting because in today’s society we need to be saved. We need to be strong. But the last thing we want to do is be calm and trust in God. So many of us need to go back to God and yet we don’t want to.

When there are such promises from the Lord why don’t we?

My Sweet Little #BabyLogan is 3 today.  I guess he isn’t really a baby anymore. Full blown toddler/preschooler. He has changed me and my life so much. He has taught me so much.  He has helped me grow closer to my husband and my sweet S.S.

Most of the time i feel as if im failing at this mom thing. But i try my best every day.  Its a scary world we live it but hopefully he can grown up tp help make it better not worse.

Special thanks to Man for all the love and support he gives me. I could not even do this mom thing without you. #Always.

“For this child i have prayed. The Lord grant me what i asked.  Therefore i shall give him back to the Lord, all the days of his life he shall serve our one true God. “- 1st Samuel 1:27-28
