I was planning on posting about our tech free evenings today and this verse came about it one of my daily reading plans. And I felt it was fitting.
Last night the boys and i had a technology free evening. I came home and we went for a walk, we ate a quick dinner around the table listening to the local christian radio station and chatting.
When that was done I pulled out a kids play pack of cards and we sat around and played slapjack, Crazy Eights, and Go Fish. Not too much longer after that the boys got dressed in their pajamas and went to cuddle in their mommy and daddy’s bed while reading.
Technology free nights are my absolute favorite. I know in this culture of busyness we have created that taking the time to just play a game may seem like a foreign idea. And I’m sure for some people the season of life you are in does not make this possible. But for the rest of this it is a totally achievable concept. After all if we are not parenting with intention then what are we doing? And as the verse below says if we are not enjoying the rest that God grants us what are we working so hard for?
It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.
